Abstract:
Based on oil particle model, an oil spill transport and fate model was established in the Weitou Bay, Xia-
men, by combining with tidal current field modeled by FVCOM and statistic average wind. Then the drift path and
the effect area of oil were simulated under the calm wind, the dominant wind and adverse wind conditions. Four
hundred tons of fuel oil was set as the initial spill to model the oil-spill diffusion process over 24h. The results show
that the sweep range and migration path of the spilled oil is closely related to the occurrence time and wind. Under
calm wind condition, the movement of oil spill is mainly influenced by the local tidal current. northwest-southeast
reciprocated. The spilled oil extended to the northwest in dominant wind, arrived at Liuwudian and entered in
Xiang'an direction by the north side of waterway. Under the dominate wind, areas affected by oil film expanded
the largest in 3 directions. Then the oil spread southward and arrived at Quemoy wateis.
