Abstract:
The size and shape of the drift objects are important factors in computing the wind-induced velocity and
predicting the drift trajectory in the sea. It is necessary to carry out drifting trials and study the wind-induced drift
coefficients for specific drift objects. In this paper, measured data in the search and rescue experiment in Yingge
Sea in May 2011, combined with wind and current numerical data was used to derive the wind-induced drift coeffi-
cients of human body model and life raft. Tlie results indicated that the wind-induced coefficient is 0. 017 for hu
man body model and 0.065 for life raft in this area. Applying model result to make up the insufficient observation
data in the study of wind-induced coefficient is the innovative point.
